Importing Howa Superlite alloy hinged floorplate

Only place I can find that make these is a place called Oregunsmithing in the US. I contacted them and they said they don't send stuff overseas but they supply them to Reloading International who do and gave me Mike Gregg's email to contact about it. He said yeap no worries and he gave me a price but said he will be out of the office for a while so may not reply for a few days. So far it seems real simple.. am I going to need an import permit and that hoop jumping crap to get one into the country?

    Probably.
I tried to get a bunch of 788 magazines in a while back.
    Just fell off their radar.
Everytime I got hold of them (the lady not the bloke), it was groundhog day.
    I had the email trail.
Ended up permits ran out it took that long.
It started really well but by the time we got the permits sorted it died big time.
Hope you have better luck than me

Is the import permit for each and every item separately, or, if others wanted stuff from overseas as well could one person do the whole lot with a 'blanket' permit to import. I am unsure how it works?

You need an import permit for everything in a particular shipment that requires an import permit, it all needs to turn up at once

If it doesn't you need to get another one for the remaining items, quite messy compared to the good old days......

You need to have an import permit "in your hands" before the items show up in the country otherwise there will be "issues" once again not like the good old days

Is there something in the Act we can submit on to change that?

Or is it detailed in the regulations?

    Goodness knows

A really good idea would be have import permits only for items that require registration, ie serialised parts, not all the other stuff like barrels, triggers, btm metals, stocks etc...

At least we don't need them for scopes, rings, etc like we used to before they decided they were issuing a ridiculous number of import permits at no cost to the consumer...

Another section of the Act to study. We have perhaps only one opportunity to get anything good across the line.

Remove the single consignment rule from Section 18AAD1(a) and extend the time frame in section 18AAD1(b) to a longer period, say 90 days.
Justification - it is often impractical to consign items on one permit in a single consignment or within the 30 day time frame, resulting in license holders needing to apply for, and the regulator needing to process, multiple permits. This imposes undue admin on licence holders and processing costs on the regulator. This is not an effective control for public safety as permits are issued anyway, it is just inconvenient and inefficient

Not to mention the time frame in current legislation does not take into account shipping issues and supply line holdups. For example if you had multiple consignments but one of them showed up in 32 days after the arrival of the first due to, I dunno, a ship blocking the Panama canal or like a worldwide virus plandemic or somethingsomething? I think these things are reasonable grounds for extending the time frame allowed in current legislation.
