Anyone had any issues recently importing stocks? Should I be getting an import permit from the police?
Unless it was for a E cat it shouldn't be necessary. I've ordered two stocks recently from McMillan & received no problems. No permits required, even managed to come through customs & not get hit with GST on both counts.
Plain stupid luck - The invoices were clearly marked with their true values :wtfsmilie:
My last stock was confiscated in the US, and the shipper busted and being done for 'Illegal Export of Items of War - under ITAR regs' or something similar.
Rem 700 hunting stock...
WTF!!!!!!! that is a bit stupid isn't it a sporter stock getting seized and the company done for selling items of war to a person from a neutral country?, I want to get a boyds stock for my XS7 don't tell me it will get seized at US customs too if I went ahead with it once I have the funds to do it.
There was a time where you couldnt get a certain sized screw out of the US (something common for model trains IIRC), as the mfg of it also supplied it to a company making NV gear for the Govt.
Na - I paid with Paypal and put in a refund .. got money back, then found out about it a week later
Sweet
Sucks for the seller though. It's no wonder most won't even respond to foreign inquires.
I'm a bit suprised your stock got stopped to be honest Spanner, as I recently went right through the ITAR list and there wasnt anything on there that jumped out at me about rifle stocks! I even went as far as talking to a trade representative and the US embassy in Wellington. You might find that your stock was part of a bigger order that included some items on the no-no list??
My query related to a scope that has a 'Gen 2' reticle that they initially stopped. It took a bit of work to get resolved but I got it here in the end :)
I have only been hit once with GST this year and not one of my orders has been under $1.5k.........stoked!!!
If you have a look at the end of my sentence you will 'find' a couple of question marks. People use those when asking a question, not making a statement. I was wondering if your stock was included in a bigger shipment that included restricted items for other people.
I also mentioned that having looked through the whole ITAR list I didnt see anything that would warrent a stock being stopped.
You're obviously the man though, so dont let any post from me ruin your day.......:)
