    Importing parts

I read a thread about 20 minutes ago that mentioned that to import ANY PARTS for rifles now needs a permit. Sling studs, Slings, rings torches etc (If they are (can?) be fitted to a rifle.

Does anyone remember which thread this was as I cannot find it with the search.

And what exactly does getting a permit now entail and do I send it to customs etc....

    Cheers

Yup, permit for all parts. It is crazy but that is how we roll now...

Talk to your local arms officer.

When customs receive your part they will notify you and you send them the permit.

Yup, wait till we see what round 2 holds for ammo limits and reloading. I suspect they are going to take "dumbness" to an entirely new level with that

    That is the case.
Email reply I got yesterday from customs,

    Morning Murray,

Unfortunately with the changes to the Arms Act, any firearm parts will require a Police Permit so to answer your question, a permit will be required.

You must have asked Matt the same question as I did but obviously in a better way because you got an answer.......

You would think it would be pretty simple to contact all the dealers to let us know the new rules.........no one seems to know what the story is for sure....
