Used both Fedex, Freight and NZPost recently:

Fedex: Extremely fast, they have broker to deal with NZ Customs. Won't ship serialized firearm parts. Will deliver to door when cleared.
Freight: Will ship to the nearest airport. You need to pickup the item by yourselves.
NZPost: If inspected by custom then you need to arrange your own pickup or via dealer network. You can go to your favourite gunshop and ask them to pickup onbehalf from international mail center.

Thanks @eamars, thought I'd replied to this weeks ago!

Which company is Freight? Mainfreight is the one that comes to mind, but Freightplus also seems to fit the bill.

Any recommendations on dealers that'll do pickup in Auckland from the mail center?

Seems like a sticky at the top of the page could be worthwhile once it's figured out so others can navigate this train-wreck of a process.

Not sure about the freight. The agent allocated for me.

My friend used shooter supplies to arranged the pickup from the mail center. You just need to acknowledge the mail center for the pickup then you'd be fine.
