    Importing a pistol

    Have any of you guys imported a pistol? Is it even worth the hassel? My main concern is will i be able to save some money. I want to bring in a remington r1.

    Had a look at bringing my Browning hi -power in last year from SA, the amount of red tape to clear and the cost just didn't justify it, gave it to my old man to hang on to. Way cheaper to just buy one here.

    Save the effort for something really worth the trouble, that you either cannot find here, or that will be worth moonbeams on resale. Off the shelf stuff is just as well bought here, the R1 is retailing here under $1600 inc GST...

    Importing a pistol

    You won't be able to save anything by the time you pay fees at each end.
    I paid 999 for mine from a shop. It's the top spec one with rose wood grips.
