Hi guys. I’m looking at importing a rifle if and when my FAL arrives one day. Possible to do it yourself or agent? If so what agent?

Unless it is something really special it will be more expensive and much more hassle than buying something here. Individual shipments of firearms are only accepted by a small number of airlines and can only come by specific routes as many countries will not permit transit of such items, the USA among them. Trans-shipment documentation is time-consuming and expensive. You can reckon on the item costing double the purchase price by the time you get it (original price, export docs, deliver to the airport (UK), handling and security charges, freight, handling charges in NZ, GST, internal delivery, and agency fees). The reason individual shipments are more expensive than commercial shipments is simply one of volume. The costs are the same for one gun as they are for 500.

We have an open 4 year export licence with Dept of commerce in USA. Might be able to help.
