    Infra-Red / Maxtoch filter ?

Does the Maxtoch work with an Infra-red filter for use with a night vision scope ?

And if so what are you guys using for the filter and where from ?

    As an aside.
I was away hunting with a guy last week who thought he had the 'best torch in the world' ..... until we stepped outside and had a torch duel.
    The Maxtoch won hands down.
He was a very good looser though.

They have a tendency to do that.

Used a red plastic filter over the front and lose 1/2 - 2/3 of the output, works well for my uses out to 50m though

It's unlikely that the LED in your maxtoch will emit light in the IR spectrum, meaning the filter will be useless.

That was the nagging thought I had !

I have a black filter for my light force spotlight and will be using that.
But the Maxtoch is so much lighter and better that i was just hoping it might be usable and much easier to carry.

You can get cheap ultrafire IR torches that are pretty effective out to 100 odd metres. I presume you are using with night vision?

What Beavis said. It isn't just a matter of swapping LED's either as they don't make them to match the power output of the Maxtoch. Just get another little torch.

The Ultrafire 501B IR torches are cheap and work well, cheaper on Ebay than T/M. With Gen3 they work out to 500mts abouts. You can always attach a IR filter over the Ultrafires lens to help reduce the visable red glow when viewde from front on. The Ultrafires come in 740nm and 850nm. the 740nm covers a wider range of NV equipment and to be honest the 850nm ultrafire isn`t thet great with gen3.

Id just try your Maxtorch with your IR filter over the end to see if it will work with your NV.. doubtful though.
