    Innovative Gunsmith Wanted?

    Hi Guy's,
In the need of recommendation of an innovative gunsmith. I'm wanting to put together an accurate, suppressed 44 magnum built off the Ruger 77/44 bolt action platform. I've collected a donor rifle, fast twist shilen barrel, A - Tec suppressor & a Jard trigger over a period. The intent is to accurately shoot subsonic out to 200 yards for a quiet, walkabout game collecting rifle. I want to true the action / bolt face, chamber & fit the barrel & suppressor, fit a tapered 20moa picatinny rail, fit a tacticool bolt handle & lastly bed the stock & stiffen up the flexible forend. I now have a March 3-25 FFP mill scope for dial up duties so now just need a gunsmith to make everything come together. Gunsmith suggestions?

I'll have to get in touch with Scott. Thought he was concentrating on suppressor manufacturing only & not accepting gunsmithing work. Yeah really keen myself to see if a subsonic 44 mag projectile will kill deer sized game humanely out to a few hundred yards if placed correctly. Done the long range thing so now feel like a new challenge - didn't like my 300 black much so looking 44cal for larger holes & hopefully cleaner subsonic kills.

good luck, unless you can pull of a headshot or use properly designed subsonic projectiles it might me hard work

Lots of pistol projectiles available designed to expand at subsonic muzzle velocities.

What barrel length you going with and what projectiles?. I look forward to see the end results. When I was keen on a longer range subsonic killer was looking at the 510 whisper, 338 whisper, 338 spectre and the 300 Blackout. The Blackout won it was the cheapest and easiest to run for brass and bullets.

I built my 9.5" barrelled .300blk pig to be super quiet with extra baffles robbed from 2 modular suppressors , and it is whisper quiet but i find when I go hunting I just shoot supers because it never misses and I don't need to get the range 100% accurate, I can't remember why i actually needed a quiet gun...

Yes that is the problem with subsonic hunting constantly using a rangefinder. I do that sometimes too running supers in open county and pre dial up the average range say 150m or 180m then just point and shoot or if I have got time and a good rest swap back to subs and redial easy as, best of both worlds.

I have always liked the Ruger 77/44, a mates got one and shot a lot of fiorland deer and it's very quick to shoulder. With supers I think it's the ultimate close range pissing down with rain roar gun. It will put a world of hurt on any deer that get hit. Never seen a deer go far from being hit with one.

If you need a backup gunsmith, I can recommend Moritz (https://www.facebook.com/Gmwgunsmith...0305389868841/)
