    Interesting suppressor design

    Trawling YouTube, found this:

Instead of baffles etc it "corkscrews" the gasses off.

They're louder than regular baffle suppressors. The benefit is decreased back pressure on semis.

Nothing new about that. The De Lisle Commando Carbine of WW2 used a spiral diffusion system (later used in the Sterling Mk 5/L34A1 silenced SMG).

Looks like over-complex, expensive bullshit to get you to part with your $s frankly. I wonder if a look at the old patents office stuff would enlighten. I did that with steam valve timing gear once, hundreds of patents all to do the same thing!

I'll agree that a suppressor can cause various issues with a gas operated system the Q would be what works best and/or whats best bang for the buck. eh stumpy? Ive always found acoustics interesting, anyway would have expected a bigger volume can to do better for pressure? but dunno about noise, hence those oil filter cans look interesting for instance.

Does that depend on where you measured it tho? their testing was quieter at the shooters ear than regular suppressors with less back pressure, which is exactly what you would want for target shooting,
I am not sold on reduced noise out the muzzle being of any benefit for hunting at all unless shooting over a dog and trying to minimise its hearing damage.

In another video they say the design sacrifices sound reduction for decreased back pressure. Probably quieter than competitor's suppressors because it's twice the size of them.

Like Steven said, pointless invention that 'solves' a probelm where simpler solutions already exist.

A decent suppressor will increase back pressure a lot. A marginal or poor suppressor not so much.
Fitting an adjustable gas block/regulator will deal with the issue of excessive bolt thrust/over-pressure.
Or, converting to piston operation with regulator will deal with pressure issue as well as running cleaner in the action and less (or no) gas spit from the ejection port.
Fit a decent suppressor and convert to piston or adjustable gas block system. Easy. Probably way cheaper too.

I don't know about snake-oil guys' claim about the octagon creating less heat mirage. Maybe up to a point, but heat still rises doesn't it?? Any decent suppressor will get hot quick.
Everyone has the right to their own opinion, but that doesn't mean that every opinion is right.
