Thread: Javelin bipod

@Sonicjoe I recommend the long one and here is my reasoning:

First, the short one is usually too short for the average shot. What I mean by this is - if you attach the short bipod in it's compact state, you will typically then need to pull the legs out and adjust them to where you need them. When laying prone, I found the short bipod to be too low for a level field such as the average target shooting range. In the field you often have the ability to use rocks and mounds, true, but I think you would find yourself always having to make leg adjustments.

With the long version, shooting prone on level ground usually doesn't require leg adjustments. To date I have never sat there wishing I had a shorter bipod. With the long bipod I find most of the adjustments I make are to one leg in order to compensate for uneven ground... so less time spent extending the legs and playing around.

The other thing I considered when making my purchase was that - possibly - the reasons that most bipods are short is due to the convenience of reducing weight, improving balance and reducing their ability to get caught up on shit. Because the Javelin is not normally fixed on the rifle, getting snagged on stuff isn't a concern so a long bipod is easier to manage. Because the Javelin is light, weight and balance is not really an issue either so having a long bipod is again a non issue.

As the Yanks say, YMMV, but with the Javelin there seems to be benefits to the long version. I have two and they get used extensively.
