Nothing really just bored
A Kimber is around 400 gm lighter than a Howa. When I gave up smoking I put om 8 kg. 400 grams can't really be bitched about.
I haven't handled the kimber but I have handled the Ruger and the savage, they are a big step below tikka and howa in fit and finish and the factory plastic stocks sucks compared to a tikka or x bolt stock. Im betting the kimber is more at tikka level than ruger or savage.
Price wise it competes with the x bolt and A7 synthetics, but if gregs weights are correct is a pound lighter. If the fit and finish is good and they are as light as claimed, then I think its a good addition to the market
I had a look at one today in HF manawatu. It didnt have the bolt or mag in it so I couldnt judge on those points. I liked the kimber because of its weight, short action and size. However, i suppress my rifles and the barrel is so thin I wouldnt want to. Fit and finish is ok, nothing to write home about. The new Tikka t3x was sitting next to it and despite the long action and added weight, the larger barrel and proven reliability and $300 less would have me buy a tikka still.
Hey Taff, why did you handicap your kimber with such a big scope? My Remington with its little 2.5x 8x 36 vx3 probably does the same thing as yours ( up to 350m at least) , and I am pretty sure you d be running up that hill as fast with it!;-)
I had that new kimber in my hands this week. I still love the barrelled action, the stock is alright, but the mag looks like a Remington 783 or ruger American one: very cheap :-( and loosable.
I ask myself the same question, I got it from a mate, so thinking of going back to my 6x42 Swarovski , may have a scope for sale soon.
what do we think the chances are of projectiles hitting similar POIs... I have a load of 139gr hornadys and the same powder charge for the 140gr Woodleigh....
I really do hope the loads hit within close of each other... as above would be a dream haha.
Kimber montana 7mm 08 is what I'm using
Tikkas shoot better than Kimbers???
Okay if your shooting a tikka super varmint and comparing it to the budget Kimber then yes maybe but comparing in a equal comparison?
Or any brand for that matter and the difference will be the shooter..... Depends on how much you flinch really LOL!
Is the trigger guard part of the stock? As in plastic as well? I like the look of the rifle, but not keen on a plastic trigger guard......But aren't Tikka T3's like that? (Forgive me with not being knowledgeable on NZ's most common rifle.)
Some pics here.
Kimber Hunter 6.5 creedmoor | Trade Me
i Have a tikka t3 and a kimber montana
the tikka is nice and fit for purpose in long action cals Mine is .280 rem.
it would annoy me if it was a medium or short action filled with a spacer
the kimber is just far nicer, CRF action in stainless that is seriously small and light
light weight high grade barrel that shoots a clover leaf at 100m
carbon stock(i know the new ones are plastic)
awesome trigger(dunno if the last owner sorted it as it was second hand)
I do like my tikka
and it is an excellent low cost rifle, but ill pick up my kimber before my tikka, sako75, brno 601
it is just a plesure to carry and shoot
the thing that irritates me is I want a light little .223 and each one I find is heavyer than my .243 kimber defeating the purpose of the excersize
Plastic like the Tikka?
Montana any day.

Is the Kimber hunter rifle likely to come out in 223?
Looks ok, not a huge fan of the mag and colour but im sure it be nice to have . Many new rifles out for 2016 have gone the budget way this year. Seems the big trend in the USa this year. i suppose all the makers have to try and get a share of the budget market, atleast the kimber hasnt gone too cheap
Looking on kimbers website it shows a 90 degree bolt lift onsome of their actions as it's a Mauser. The thing I don't like about cz is the need for highrings or bolt grind. Does Kimber suffer from this too?
Thanks Greg.
Sorry to Necro a thread, but I ordered one of these yesterday. Should have it by the end of the week. Report to follow.
