Kimber Mountain ascent optifade stock - Refinish

Anyone out there who has refinished an optifade painted factory stock? Looking to do something with mine as its getting a bit scruffy.

The only way I can find is Cerakote but to do the multi color is not easy and cheap. I would buy the gun skin from us to wrap the stock. Kuiu verde 2.0 pattern looks good!

I would just get it hydro dipped. Could clear coat ceracote after if you really want a hard finish but have seen plenty of hydro dipped rifles that wear really well without it

+1 for what Ryan said. There’s a guy around Tauranga way that’s done several stocks for me and they’ve come up brilliant

You wouldn't recall his details would you? How much was the hydrodipping?

Cost was around $100. I’ll see if I can find his email and PM to you

I know what you mean, I had a kimber ascent and disliked the stock. I ended up buying a montana stock for it.
A much cheaper option would be to use Raptor coating, 2k urathane. Here is a steel 4wd snorkel I sprayed, it is bullet proof and you can order in any colour.
I have the spray gun for it if you want to borrow.
1 kit would do 10 stocks or more so would be good to have other parts to spray at the same time. Name: IMG_20200408_175840.jpg

This is a great idea. How coarse is the finish? Just wondering how it would feel against your cheek under recoil.
