Kiwi made Howa mini ultralight chassis a reality?

I don't know how many remember some pics popping up a while back now of a kiwi made chassis for the mini , but the missus found this on Facebook somewhere....

Oh it's legit guys! I've shot the rifle pictured and it was stunning, watched the gunsmith behind it take it out of a small backpack, assemble it in about 40 seconds and then shoot a possum with it at 200m and various goats out to about 550m. It was superbly accurate and seemed to hold its zero and track perfectly even as a take off barrel setup. I'll see if I can find any sneaky photos I took of it.

I've had an order in for a while and I'll get to pick mine up on Sunday at the Sika show, I believe they will have the first small batch available for sale there on the weekend.

What's the ballpark cost for just the chassis @Mintie? Including butt stock etc, at the point where the barrelled action can just drop in.

Saw someone shoot a goat coldbore at 350 having never shot the rifle before.

Dropped like a bag of potatoes.

Not sure what it will cost me yet, and don't really care to be honest. It's the lightest, stiffest, sexiest available and it's locally designed and manufactured. I'll let you know after I pick it up but the first batch is pretty limited so I'd say they will all sell out over the weekend anyway.

so overall length from back of bolt (in your photo of goat) to end of bare muzzle will still need to be more than 7.62mm
    75/15/10 black powder matters

That's not set up as a folder, it requires an Allen key to attach/detach the rear stock so it can be 762 from butt to muzzle. Think they need a 20" barrel if you set them up as a folder.

cant see plod wearing that...allen key MEANS its not permanent....the same as an unscrewable suppressor isnt counted as overall length.

Just like pretty much all centre fire rifles? The Howa's come with Allen bolts that remove the stock, and the action can still be shot when removed from the stock. I believe the wording talks about tools being required to remove which is why suppressors are not included, so if it was just a QD rear stock attachment then it would be a no go.

I am not sure of the wording but I think that if it can be fire as a pistol there is trouble. I am sure the manufacturer is up to speed with the regs and has it compliant. Looks great. Personally I would like a folding stock

As long as your barrel is long enough to keep it above legal length when folded sure.
BUT i promise you if you get hands on it in the configuration that @Mintie has shown , you will not want a longer barrel.

Besides , why would you want it with a folding stock anyway…. The tactical factor? Lol

Go to sika show this weekend and handle it. It will give you a semi….
