If my work annoys me, I cull them
I don’t see extreme difficulty especially if the donor action/block was supplied to be set into a aluminium chassis. These are available, slightly pricey https://akila.ltd/product/acsr93/
sounds like you Blazer guys need to DIY with some paulownia.....

@Wingman do you mind sharing your load data for the 123gr ELDM? Hoping to load some rounds up to test for mine thats being built this week
I ran 28gr to 28.2gr loaded to mag length in my custom trueflight grendel. My Howa any many others I've tested didn't like the 123gr ELDM as much as the 123gr Amax or 120gr. There are 2 different Grendel chamber designs one has a shorter compound 1.5deg throat and the "G2" which I more suited to hybrid/secant ogives and longer seating depths.
Awesome, thankyou. Gives me a good idea on where to start.
Another short barrel data point for .222 this time. Probably not much use to any of you since it sounds like they canned the 222 but it might be interesting.
Wingman hooked me up with a .222 barrel which I finished to 10.5" to match my 300blk barrel. Kind of counter intuitive but I mount my scope super high counter intuitively too so why not try it out. It was short to start with so no major loss, except for velocity. Should still be enough to pop some rabbits with. Hoping to get at least 2800fps.
40gn Vmax, Winchester brass, CCI 400 primers, W296, 2205 and some CFE black, just enough to get an idea of where to start. I had some data for the 2205 and CFEBLK but nothing on the W296. GRT showed some pretty safe numbers so gave it a go.
2205 18.2gn 2759fps - pretty mild, still a bit of room to improve
CFEBLK 22.5gn 3063fps - bit more like it, probably on the upper end so not much room to improve
W296 18.5gn 3220fps - bolt was quite snug so need to dial it back a bit. There is quite a bit of space in the case and 296 is a bit zingy so may stick with the other powders.
Nothing too amazing for 222 but from a 10.5 inch barrel it's pretty zippy. I'll try a few with BM1 and BM2 and some 2208 for good measure.
Might try some .222 subs also. It would be handy to use sort of like a .22lr. I normally carry my .22 with the thermal on it on my way to where the deer seem to be kicking around then whip the Elude out of my bag, screw it all together, switch the thermal over and put the 22 on my back. Only takes a minute to switch but carrying the extra rifle up the hill at the end of the night is a bit of a pain, especially if I wasted a few possums on my way down and have to carry them up too.
3.5grns of trailboss behind a 60grn is stupidly quiet...... found a 4grn behind 55grn load for the 223 so tweaked it and it works. @Sparrowgun

Hi all i puled some Belmont 223 subsonic ammo and found they used 4.10 grain Trail Boss under 55 grain projectile ..
you could try some Hornady 45grain Bee H Point x 4.10 grain Trail Bos just subsonic - to 5.50 grain that has a bit of an echo up the valley ..
cheers
Thanks guys! That helps heaps. Had a go with the TB and some 50gn ZMAX my bro in law gave me. Got yellow tips so I can tell them apart from the 40gn super loads I'll eventually load.
50gn Zmax with Trailboss - 222REM 10.5" 1:14 barrel of some sort
4.0gn - 1145fps
3.7gn - 1125fps
3.2gn - 970fps - repeated with 3x more to get a group 973, 997, 969.
Looks like they are going through sideways. Shot at 50m, the small squares are 1moa at 50. Was pretty gusty. Maybe 10.5" is too short to get some good stabilisation. I'll load a few more at 3.3gn for some extra speed and extra rpm. Shouldn't clip the suppressor hopefully.
I have counter intuitively mounted an SIII 6-24 on counter intuitive super high rings which makes Wingman go into fetal position. Can't shoot what you can't see haha. I have the same mount on the thermal, no POI shift when I switch them over.
Don't paint your shooting bench white unless you like snow blindness btw. I drilled and tapped the side of the butt for a QD sling socket and stuck one on the left side of the fore end. Seems to sit pretty stable when slung over the front or back, even with the huge scope. Need to hit it with a bit more paint, it's wearing off in a few spots but I kinda like the worn look.
Was it worth the wait? Absolutely!!!
The Magpull MOE+ grip is perfect though would have preferred the OD Green. Soft fitted scope and suppressor and adjusted the cheek piece back a bit just to get a feel for it. Been awhile since I’ve had a pistol grip rifle and you have to really get on this thing, if that makes sense. Getting more comfortable by the day. When I’ve sorted a rail I’ll mount up the red dot and see what the go is with that as I’ve never used one before.

“Age is a very high price to pay for maturity”
This thing is criminally light and well built, just need to drop the barreled action in and pick a grip.
Cheers @robhughes-games for the great service
