@Wingman, unfortunately missed out on your last run of Elude's, but threw my money down on one from your next batch.
I thought I could handle an ETA of 'a couple of months'.
2 weeks in, and I feel like I have waited 2 years :O_O:
Is there any update on the ETA or a more firm timeframe ?
Chop chop WingDaddy!
The chassis are out of my hands and in the hands of my very capable cnc guy so intil he finishes the second batch and they go to anodizing I wont have any further updates. Once they arrive to me for assembling and carbon fiber work I will fit them up to the list of custom build we currently have pre sold. If you have a complete build ordered they are well on their way to being done now so ready to just drop in the chassis once they arrive.
There will also be bare chassis available to those of you that want to do your own builds.
We will also have full stock of howa minis in all chamberings including 6mm ARC In 2-3 weeks.
.450 Bushmaster has been discontinued by Howa so if you had been considering one get in now as there are only 2 or 3 left in NZ stock.
@Wingman, thank you for the update!
In all honesty, I just wanted to revive this Thread!
It had been awesome seeing everyone elses Eludes/Builds and then all of a sudden the sharing stopped.
Think Dave was going to give me a heads up in advance of Chassis turning up, so I could drop the Grendel in for some minor tweaks and potentially have it all ready to drop in once Chassis arrives.
Just to expand on this comment, a question to those of you that are running these short barreled minis. Projectile/powder choices that you have found effective??
I’m a fair while away before I start reloading for mine but will quietly stock up on components over this year. Picked up a bag of Starline brass today at DeltaMikes and they have a good stock of 123gn ELD-M’s as well as a few boxes of 123gn SST’s if they are good choices to run in the 12.5” barrel?
Cheers, Sidetrack
I run the 300blk in the night ops deer pic. Not a 6.5 but as a data point, 10.5" barrel (longer butt tube to keep total length all good), 110vmax with 20.5gn W296 in ADI case with CCI400 primer. avg velocity about 2250fps. They were loaded for the 16" barrel and were doing 2400fps. Surprisingly not very noisy, quiet enough that I don't think I will continue to load subs for it. I haven't done any load development with the short barrel yet as the rounds I had kicking about were reasonably accurate. Head shot on that deer was effective. Not sure how great it would be with the traditional rush rush rush shoot it somewhere around the front leg shot. Probably not very.
@Wingman, did you ever develop a bag rider for the chassis?
Yes.. sub 10 grams carbon with a titanium capscrew and fits in to the stocks accessory port.

What sort of scope is that on there wingman??
I was trying to see that Micky. Glasses are at the workshop, so thought I would just ask instead to confirm.
control button bottom left of keypad and plus button up near top right on key pad....lol no use if on cellphone though.
I THINK I can see a 4 on top...maybe a 1-4 or some such.
Had a couple of 6.5 Grendel's out this week with a few mates chasing some fallow. Great time had by all, such a pleasure to carry and hunt with. S&B is a 1-6 power and gets me on target to 500m.

chasing...looks like you caught up no worries
Nice work and nice looking rifles there. You like the S an B scope??
Thanks, yep it does the job, it weighs almost as much as the rifle at 980gr but clear and tracks well. The chassis was designed around the use of this kind of compact low powered variable optics as there are plenty out there without homes after the Semi auto confiscation.

Cheers for letting me use the shorty @Wingman to think i was gna carry my long range gun up the hill….
Was a pleasure bro.. you still seemed pretty gassed walking down the hill with it though..:D

Like hell i was! I got back to camp before you did!
There might have been proximity faffing with @Mintie?
You Guys are just teasing i have one of these stocks on order but still waiting Thanks for the great write ups though
bump..just cause
2nd batch getting anodized now and hope to see them by the end of next week for assembly and carbon fiber work.
Sent barreled action up this week. Looking forward to seeing it back here in a month or so, in all its compact goodness. Then my wife will get her wee Tikka back, which I must say has been a pleasure to cart around in the tight stuff.
@Wingman did they arrive back from Anodizing as expected ?
Been hanging out for all the Teasers on both here and the Facebook page!
What's one worth for the works @Wingman?
Should have them in the next couple of days. I've been working through all the pre orders and have most of them set up to customers spec and ready to drop into the chassis when they arrive.
Did yours today @Sidetrack
[QUOTE=Preacher;1456309]What's one worth for the works @Wingman?[/QUOTE
They all vary depending on what is ordered.
Sorry to be a pain in the arse, but what exactly are the options?
Lovely beauty, but any chance could take a AR release at next vision?
cheers
And a little boy waits...
Have you thought about posting an options list wingman with a price guide attached.
It might be worth it for prospective buyers wondering if this sort of thing is within their grasp.
I'm sure people understand that prices change overnight sometimes with the variables involved in the costs of materials etc.
With 11 pages of info I thought it was pretty self explanitory, but let me condense it into 1 post.
I am a gunsmith who works out the back of a retail gun shop. I designed this chassis with a good mate who shared the need for a lightweight compact chassis rifle
and decided to make a few more to share with others.
There are now small batches getting made through a talented engineer on his CNC gear. He works closely with me and has been refining the design to be even better and lighter than the previous batch so it will continue to be improved. This is the advantage of smaller custom batch production.
If you are after a bare chassis they are $1000. All you will need is your choice of AR pistol grip and you can drop in your Howa mini and go shoot something.
If you need a rifle to fit the chassis you need to contact the shop to check what is currently in NZ stock and go from there. The importers have had very little stock of Howa minis and the ones they do get sell out fast.
If you have your own rifle you want modified and fitted to a chassis you also need to contact the shop.
I can't exactly list every component and option price as the list would be massive.
You can speak with the sales team about your custom requirements/options such as: Stainless or blued action, heavy or light barrel, chambering, barrel length, thread, suppressor, carbon sleeving, bipod, scope, rails, rings, extra mags, AR grip type, sling, M-Lok rail accessories, additional lightening, titanium screw sets, custom reloading info, sighting and drop chart service etc etc.
Once all this is decided I will get a job card for your build and it will be put together for you within a few days as long as all components you ordered are in stock. If they are not you can change to other components or just wait longer :D
Howa have discontinued many of the howa mini chamberings such as .222rem, 204 ruger and 450 bushmaster and the 6mmARC have been delayed multiple times. I have been told by the importers that there are only 20 6mm ARCs coming and they are due this month.. Im not holding my breath on that one as they have been saying this for 3 years now and still nothing..
I am just completing all the carbon fiber work on the chassis now so the current orders should start rolling out this week/early next week.
As you say prices of components are changing with every order from supplier so to get a solid quote you need to ring the shop. The wholesalers have been receiving very little of what they order and sell out fast so if there's something you want and it is in stock you need to jump on it because it will likely be gone overnight.
Hi Wingman
when will "stocks only" be released to buyers .Had one on order for a while now but answerers to my emails dont seem to happen
cheers
@AR7 sounds like this week or early next week. Even the 'stocks only' require the Carbon Fiber bits.
Definately looking forward to getting my phone call! I will drop everything I am doing and drive straight there to collect.
Sounds like I need to find a pistol grip though! I had thought this was included.
Didn’t think about the pistol grip myself. Makes sense as it can be a very personalised item regarding fit. DeltaMikes down our way have a good selection so at least I can try a few on the chassis before I buy one. Won’t be long now for those of us in the que.
Ordered mine yesterday.
Still havn't heard about mine. According to Dave, I am supposedly first in the que for this 2nd batch!
