Thread: Lee Enfield No4 with very few markings.

Yesterday a mate came over with his new Rifle,the guy he bought it off had taken the stock off for postage and I made a long Screw driver to screw the stock bold back in.

Having a look at the Rifle the first thing I noticed that any markings were absent.The only ones were two "NP" stamps under the top wood on the barrel,a number "2" on the bolt head and a "F" on the magazine follower.Also the machining inside the action was course to say the least.

Alot of these were dropped to the resistance here in Norway,along with various other armaments.A friendly gunsmith gave us 300 rounds of 303 that someone had arrived at his shop with,along with a Bren Gun that their Grandfather had squirreled away.The Bren got deactivated,the owner got enough money for a holiday and the Gunsmith kept the ammo.

The Rifle shot well enough.

Were there some series of No4s that were lightly marked?Or is this likely to have been a parts gun?
