Leica geovid pro 32. Whos got them?

Ok so I have gone down a bit of a rabbit hole while researching which RF binos to buy. My initial budget was around $2200. I was reading about the Geovid pro, and some of the functions sound really impressive.

Is anyone running the 8 or 10x32mm?

The size and weight sounds good for me. I have found most 10x42 RF i have used / looked through are a fair bit heavier than what i'm used to. I mainly hunt tops and try to keep my kit as lean as possible.

Any feedback would be appreciated, Thanks

My 2c worth - it's vital to actually look through binos before buying!! I went bino shopping a few years ago looking for a 10x set of premium RF's. After looking through many sets Andy at Shooters Supplies teased me into trying some 8x. Man I was pleased he did, I found they matched my eyes "scan style" much better than 10x (which I now feel are like looking through two tubes, my eyes much preferring the wider FOV). The 8x43 Geovids I ended up with habe served me very well, and on the hill I usually spot game ahead of the 10x guys. I'd love to look through the new Geovid 8x32s - If they suited my eyes they'd be my first choice for SI high country.

Agree with you on FOV although I made the mistake of looking through The Swaro NL Pures and now run the 10x32ds which have more FOV and better glass by a significant margin than my 10x42 geovids did(actually the have more FOV than the 8x42 Geovids also. I do miss the in built rangefinder at times but FOV it bloody nice to have when scanning country.

I’ve been running the 10x32 for about 3 months now. Upgraded from the original swaro EL rangefinder binos.

Went to the sika show last year specifically to have a play with these and the latest from swaro. Spent the best part of the day going back and forth between the two.

Went with these in the end as they have the applied ballistics in them and the ability to hold up to 30 load profiles. Swaros we’re limited to 3 at a time and I run quite a few different loads in different rifles so that put me off a bit.
In saying that the Swaros displayed the range and dope calculations a lot quicker and we’re very nice as expected.

Things I really like so far:…. the size, super compact and much lighter than most comparable models. They’re supposed to have a better class of laser in them than previous models to operate better in rain etc. this seems to be true for me as I’ve been able to range out to 1300m no worries in descent rain. Ranging seems to be relatively easy out to about 2000m. Have got readings out as far as 2300m on big objects. In terms of glass,Was told by the Leica rep the glass comes from the same factory as the Swaros and to my eyes there was very little difference. If I had to choose, maybe the Swaros had a slight edge but not sure with limited use.

Be aware that you pay and extra $250 for the ‘pro’ version of applied ballistics to get solutions beyond 800m as well.

    Hope this helps!

Yeah mate I have some geovid 8x32 pro, I've had a lot of high end binos, swaro, zeiss esc
These beat them all hands down.
The dope is easy to set, and the glass awesome
8 times for the win all day you'll see more animals than those on 10

Really on the 8s? I'm about to drop some cash on a new set of EL Range TAs, always had 10x42 Geovids... Second guessing if I should try 8. Serious lump of cash to put down, very difficult to test them all @BRADS

That sounds like a half truth to me- Schott for example may supply glass to various manufacturers but what each do with it, especially coatings, may yield a quite different outcome.

Apparently Swarovski outsources the glass for coating where Leica does it in-house, so I'm told

Thanks. Yeah i aim to have a look through all that i can and am defiantly keen to compare the geovid pro's 8x & 10x side by side.

    Hey,

Thanks alot for the feedback. Really helpful

You didn't happen to compare the 8x and 10x32 with eachother?

I need to get somewhere where they have a good range of them. We are limited down here

My binos are 8x40 (mid range glass $1k), Wouldn't go back to 10x, Pick up more animals quicker. Was holding my binos up and yacking to Brian at the same time yesterday. Half concentrating and just sort of glancing but stopped mid sentence when I spotted 2 Fallow bucks on the edge of the frame. Thats the sort of extra advantage the fov offers.
Not sure about $5k for glass - my $1k Tract are just fine (and a range finder on my belt). But get what floats your boat.
Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing, and right-doing, there is a field. I will meet you there.

The pros sounds like a good balance of euro glass and good software iv had the el ta and currently have sig3000bdx after I demoed my swaros and their were no replacements in the country “dropped and in retrievable” . The sig has hands down the best range finder and applied ballistics is epic glass is not euro but ok . Leicas iv had in the past were weak rangers but good glass years have past though and applied ballistics makes it pretty appealing . I’m going back to stand alone binos and range finder swaro nl pure and sig 1800

Yeah I saw that. I just really like the idea of the smaller/lighter package. And from the info I have read you only loose a few mins on fading light between geovid pro 32 and 3200.com 10x42.

I'm still on the fence between 8x and 10x. I have never run 8x but can imagine the wider fov would be good. I do run a 65mm spotter, so once animals are located I usually get that on them.
