    Leica Grumble.

    Afternoon All.

Just wondering if any of you have had issues with Leicas Geovids / HD's / HD-B's

My Father is on his third pair of Leicas now , and the first two pairs both had to be warranty repaired.

Now the Third pair (HD-B's only 12 months old) Have also shit the bed.

Still great binos , just not range finding at all! I've scoured the net but everything just says "Send them back for factory repair"

As we know here in NZ , that could take months.

I wonder if I'm going crazy about the fragile qualities to these otherwise great optics , or if others have had the same experience.

Mine are the 10 x 42 HD-B's. Must be about 6 or 7 years old now and haven't had any problems (touching wood as we speak)
I bought mine from local H and F after I gave them the opportunity to price match. Id expect them to sort out any problem I might have.

Leica's quality control is non existent. Had a HD-R 2700 that wouldn't range properly, dealer sent them back to factory with 2 other pairs with the same issue, 2 of the 3 came back with the very issues that they had before their 2-3 month trip oversea's, dealer did give our money back though. i will never buy another Leica again, now have a zeiss which are very good. (have also owned swaro's )

That's a real shame. I suppose I'll have to now do the warranty thing.

Mine are approx five years old and have been great. My hunting mate bought a set the same time and his crapped out after two years, got a replacement set, they wouldn't range past a couple hundred metres straight out of the box, got a replacement set and they seem to be ok. Makes me a bit nervous to be fair, quite a bit of money tied up in binos for them to crap out.
I'm drawn to the mountains and the bush, it's where life is clear, where the world makes the most sense.

Mine would stop ranging when they got cold - really bloody annoying. My local HnF doesn’t stock Leica anymore due to the issues they had with warranty support etc.

I've read a few places online Leica's out of warranty support is garbage. I can tell you swaro support at least for their scopes is good outside of warranty.
