The Niggeloh with the forward strap around the barrel. Nothing better. Wont slip off shoulder and the slight stretch cushions and absorbs jumps and bumps so the rifle doesn't bounce.

Forgive my ignorance but I have never understood why you would have a sling that wraps around the barrel when there's a perfectly good sling stud to use. Can't use it as a brace either due to loading up the barrel.
What's the benefit of that type over a stud attachment?

I cant answer for MSL, but my reasons are: Barrel sits lower and doesnt catch, so a long barrel still carries easily. lowers centre of gravity / balance point of rifle so it 'hangs' and doesnt swjng, creates a pinch point that locks the sling to the shoulder. Try it !

All of the above, but it also leaves the sling stud available to attach a bipod without having to remove the sling first
