    Leupold 3.5 - 10 x40 is firedot worth it?

The Leupold 3.5 - 10 x 40 vx3 firedot, is it worth the extra dosh over the standard duplex reticle? I think there is approximately $300 difference between them? I’m looking at this scope for my all round, one centrefire rifle. Bush and tops setup.
    Thoughts?

dark bush, dim light, late evening, early morning...think youve answered your own question......

coming from fella who doesnt spend more than $300 on a scope......... but to whom being able to pick up target quickly is very important.

I liked the firedot in the VX5 I had, I think it was only $150 difference when I bought it.

For the extra $300 its not worth it.
Its the last thing i think about when shooting a animal, also if its that dim or dark and you need a firedot to shoot its time to go home. For me its not a game changer.

Price would be getting up there to a very tidy second hand vx5.

Just googled a vx3 for the $1400 i would be looking at a second hand vx5 off here for a few hundred more and good chance it might have firedot

    Yeah 100% worth it
They are all I want to use these days and it takes the thinking out of shooting moving animals just put the dot where you want the bullet to go

I don’t think I can stress enough how good they are on black pigs the normal recticle disappears and is a fudge at best under tree cover

With the firedot it’s like child’s play plus the duplex guides your eye in far better than a stand alone red dot, I use subs and need to basically place my shot where it needs to be and it’s just super fast with it

@bigbear Haha yeah I think I’ll spend the extra $, I read someone on hear say “buy once, cry once”….. it’d be the most money I’ve spent on a scope lol

Fire dot is great IMHO. Just helps me to concentrate on my aim a lot better.
