The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds

Apparently if you get the right size O-ring u can make a zero stop, I haven't tried it yet.
Some guys drill & tap the turret, placing a grub screw in there to act as a zero stop.
I would think you would need to be careful using those zero stops, if you got rough with them you could hurt the scope

They do make one zero stop model ER/T M5 6.5-20 x 50 ( not sure if they are availiable in NZ, or wether they can retro fit to other scopes ) I reckon they would be pricey
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!
DIY plu type zero stops arnt a good idea - if you wind down hard onto it, you can jack the guts out of the scope.
