Leupold scopes , where do they fit

I haven't bought a new Leupold scope for many years
    It used to be easy
    Vari X 1 2 3
    Then Vx 1 2 3 ,
then rifleman, redfield again in the lower end mix etc etc etc
Then vx something i, now vx3hd

So I understand that vx3-HD vx5 and VX6 are the top three[ I think]

How does the line up work from bottom to top?

    Thanks

    basically the same deal still.
the freedom line if it is still called that would be considered the 'budget' end . I think the new versions use the vx glass .
the vx3hd is the lower end of the 'hd' glass version , then up to vx5hd , 6hd and so on .
then the 'mark' scopes such as mark 5 for example , are the top of the range long range scopes .
That is a pretty generalised description though and some of the differences, besides the glass , are in other features such as zero stop top and/or side adjustment , illuminated reticle etc , tube size and so on .
for example my vx3i doesn't use what they call the hd glass , and that has been superceded by the vx3hd , but none of the 3hd's have a 30mm tube or side focus for example , and it is arguable that the hd glass is actually any better .
It is really a case of deciding what features you are after and finding a scope that fits that description , or the closest to it ... for example to match the features of my vx3i you would probably need to go to a vx5hd .....

but again , that is a pretty general overview ...

Okay fair cop, but I was thinking the more traditional scope with objective bell , and still no side focus on that one. I have yet to see a 3hd with the same spec/features as my vx3i 30mm tube 4.5x14 with zero stop and side focus . Not to say there isn't one coming either....
But in my defense I did say that it was a general basic overview... And best to search catalog for the features wanted.

Ay Micky I thought that to... when I was younger.
Only two scopes in 45 yrs of shooting I have ever sent back
One was a Leupy vx3 3.5-10, it just wouldn't hold zero after awhile
I tried everything , eventually sent it to Beaverton 'merica at my expense
Leopold agreed and sent me a new one
Other one was a Bushnell Elite 4200 3.5-10 reticle fell off, really weird looked like there was a stick in in it
Only had to send this one to wellington, got a new one, sold both scopes new in the box [ obviously at different times] and have never bought any new Leupy or Bushnell gear again.
However I have a Leupy VX3 2.5-8x36 on my 9.3x62 and a 2-7 on my 30 30, both bought off this forum some time ago and both of which I have never had a problem with.

I really like that 2-5-8x36 scope and am always keeping an eye out for them coming up for sale.
I've never owned a fixed power Leupold.

Leupold are great as you buy a second hand one with confidence know if you have an issue it will be taken care of even though you are not the first owner.

1 have a VX Freedom, VX3i, VX5, VX6 and Mk5. In fact only one scope I have is not Leupold although it still starts with a L

Mark 3HD is about the same price to VX3HD. more of a side-grade than upgrade. Mark 3HD cannot compete in the low-mid-range PRS scope market.

As far as their hunting line up goes, There are VX6HD, plain VX6, and VX5HD. The general consensus is that VX5HD is the best value, has better image quality than plain VX6, and has same image quality to VX6.
