Only thing I would add is the VX5HD is a very heavy scope in my opinion. A nice 3-9 or similar is far more portable for those of us that walk and stalk A mate has a 4-14 VXR? with the firedot and the eye relief change between powers is terrible. He is going to get rid of it. I would too. Dont think that issue is there with the 5HD. Shame as it is a nicely balanced and weight scope.

Yeh I don’t like VX5, big heavy things.

Hi Hiawatha, I did notice when holding the two scopes in the store the VX3 was more or less half the size of the VX5. It's definitely one of my deciding factors.

I have the VXR 4x14 with powerpoint love that scope eye reliefs a little shit after 10x but I never shoot over 300 yds

It's all a toss up, I don't mind the weight of the vx5 after having the vx3s and knowing how fussy the eye boxes can be. At 550 grams they're still relatively light compared to some of the bigger nightforce etc

Yeah 100% the 2-10 isn't bad weight or size wise. There are few better performing scopes weight wise than the vx3s, they fit the lightweight role very well

Another option would be a second hand VX6 2-12x42 , they are excellent scopes so don’t come up for sale too often, but if you are not in a rush then keep a look out.

Had both on a 6.5 Creedmoor. Sold the VX5 2-10. The VX3i isn't as good optically, however it's about 5oz heavier than the VX3i 3.5-10 which is still a nice scope.

I sold my vx5 to buy a vx3i and a bow. Vx3i has not disappointed but not in the same class as the vx5

True 2 power is about perfect in the thick shit too imo. Definatley better than the 3.5 (which is closer to 3.8 in actuality if I remember correctly).

I have the VX31 3,5 x 10 x 40 on my 308 and for the money i found it a good scope.
I love to have the VX5 but it comes down to budget and my budget wasnt alot so im more than happy with the vx3i. if not shooting generally past 300m , esp 400m i stick with the VX3i if
money is a issue. If not buy the best and the VX 5 will be better

I have all the above models except vx6. However my favourite general purpose scopes are vx3 and vx3i 2.5-8 * 36. These gather heaps of light, have good fov, compact, dial well and serve my 308 out to 600yards accurately and clearly. The vxr firedot 3-9 is also a very good utility scope. The vx5hd zl2 firedot is superb all round in 2-10*42. I prfer this over 3-15 for several reasons even though same price.

I have owned two VX3i scopes. They are great and I would buy a third. The VX5 is awesome though, if you have the money it’s worth the extra. I like the 3-15 though, such an ideal magnification range for all scenarios.
