Leupold Windplex Reticle - any good ?

Anyone using Leupy with a Windplex reticle ?

    What is it like for real-world application ? Hunting / gongs beyond point-blank range (300 - 600 yds) ?

How easy is it to use the reticle for holding off on wind ? Do you find the hash marks disappear in "busy" backgrounds or particular light conditions ?

    Ta, ebf

Hmmm, do you have another one with lower magnification ? 2-7, 3-9 or 3.5-10 ?

Sorry @ebf no I don't. However if you want the one above for a trial it's yours for a bit.

Leupold Windplex Reticle - any good ?

It’s similar to a TMOA without the vertical marks.
Really like my TMOA, makes holding off in the wind and quick changes if the wind changes easy.
I used to dial for wind but now only dial elevation and hold for wind and think it’s a better system.

I use it on my 308 in 3x9. It works perfect out to 550 which is all i can dial with the zero stop. Think most ive held is 4-5 moa

Do you have a spare Elle McPherson?

It's a nice reticle, very clean, it is a little busy having 1moa hash lines ( 10moa total ). I probably like the Swaro 4w slighty better as it's not so congested ( having the hash lines @2moa ) 20moa in total. But they both work well & after all if you need more than 10moa of windage it's probably a little gusty to be shooting at animals.

Dun'o how good it would work on gongs out ta 1970's yards though hahahaha

Ive got the equivalent reticle in a Burris scope and like it a lot.
Is definitely not too busy, and the hashes are as easy to pick out and any milling reticle.

Have heard complaints that the Leupold windplex is a bit too heavy for precision work, but I have never been able to find and subtensions only to compare against my Burris.
The Burris is definitely heavier than my VX6 Tmoa, but I've never found it an issue.

TMOA is an awesome reticle, far better than the Windage plex for precision shooting at little targets

What am I missing here ? Both have 1 MOA hash marks... Other than better glass in the VX6, why is it far better ?

The hash marks are only on the horizontal on the windplex

Its thinner and has an open centre, as well as the obvious vertical hashes also.
Would have an advantage for precision shooting, but wouldn't have thought it'd be far better.
