Leupold Zero lock turret allen key size

    Hey fellas,
My VX6 is about to become obliterated on a concrete floor very soon..
I had it retro fitted with a 2ZL turret earlier in the year and life got in the way so have not touched it since.
Got some time off so thought I’d do some
load work and go for a hunt.

My question is, it came back from Australia with no Allen key, it also came back with two different sized grub screws for the turret..two are 1/16 the remaining one is not .050” or 1.27mm. Those sizes are both too small, 1.5mm is too big as is 5/64.

I’ll email the NZ agent but am wanting to utilise my time off while I have it (no xmas or New Years break)

Any ideas am I missing something simple? Nothing is stripped, they’ve never been tightened.

I will go into an engineering supplies store and see if they can marry up three the same size for me.

Very frustrating, I am the type of person that always receives the half arsed job.

    Cheers

    Andrew

Can't really help but I'd email Nioa directly they get back within a day or 2. And grab the turret and just head down to the local hardware store and just try everything you can. maybe a jewellers flathead might do

I've got a Bondhus imperial allen key set and the correct size is in that, so its a standard imperial. Not home at mo' so cant tell you what size it is.

Sorry bud, didn't see the the info about two different sizes , so my info won't help

Just a quick update to close the book on this thread.

I went to a few local engineer suppliers, and even a few who they recommended for no luck. So I emailed the NZ distributer and with 3 email exchanges over about 30 minutes some new screws and an allen key were on their way to me.
They arrived pretty quickly but I soon established that they too would not work (metric)..so another email or two and in a very short time some more screws were on their way.

Happy to say they arrived today and work, back to work tomorrow but at least I know next days off I can count on everything working as it should.

Can't thank NZ Asia trading enough for such great response to getting it sorted, much appreciated and not often encountered thesee days let alone at this time of the year.

good result but doesn't help anyone else who may need to know the size ?.......like me
I contacted several stores and a couple contacted the importer, not one could tell me the actual size of the hex screw.
I did get an allen key given to me in the end and it is imperial but no idea what size it is ?

is that one of those nifty vx5 turrets that the button depresses for the second spin?

is that something I can buy for my 2-12 vx6 ? Mine is the cds model already but the turrets not like that and no zerostop

@Ryan_Songhurst had a bit of run with those crews at the Toby shoot. Managed to find a bit on my leatherman driver kit that worked but the consensus of 'farking small' seems to cover it (no idea what my leatherman kit has in it just that it often has the right one)

Theyre a pain in the ass. For some reason the VX6, VX5, and VX3 I have all have different sized grub screws
    199p and dannyb like this.
    270 is a harmonic divisor number[1]
270 is the fourth number that is divisible by its average integer divisor[2]
270 is a practical number, by the second definition
The sum of the coprime counts for the first 29 integers is 270
270 is a sparsely totient number, the largest integer with 72 as its totient
Given 6 elements, there are 270 square permutations[3]
    10! has 270 divisors
270 is the smallest positive integer that has divisors ending by digits 1, 2, …, 9.

The scope is a VX 6 and the screws had to come from another VX6 turret

1/16 allen key fits my vx5. Tried to measure the screw but only have a metric tap and die set so couldn't really sort pitch etc. Best guesstimate is unc 4-40 or 6-32 or there abouts unf would possibly be either 4-48 or 6-40 but it looked like a coarse thread to me. Verniers said about 3.5 mm and to out side of the thread and 28 for pitch so 6-32 would be my start place. Other option is drill them out slightly and tap the holes in a metric size that is common and you know. If you check you my be able to make the different models all the same this way and have the same screw and allen key for all?
