Thread: Light weight and reliable dialing scope....

Firstly is there such a thing as the title suggests. Also are the lighter weight scopes hardy enough for a good thrashing in kiwi conditions or will the first fall be the end of most of them? I'm currently using a VX 7 Leupold 3.5 - 14 x 50mm on a 7 SAUM and the scope alone weigh near enough to 1.5lb. On the plus side the glass is top notch. Can you get a scope round the 1lb mark that makes the cut?

If you want the drama that goes with the z5
You will struggle two replace the glass on the vx7 the Vx 6 is lighter and seems very reliable.

A 50mm Leupold vx-3 is reasonably hard to beat for a hunting scope in my opinion. I have the schmidts and march etc but the loopy gets the most use in the hills. If swarovski could put a similar style turret to the CDS on the Z3 range it would be nice....

VX3 4.5-14x40 cds........tough repeatable versatile best hunting scope to shoot from 30 yds to 500 yds on my 6.5.it will do everything you need

Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5-16x42.....?

I can't seem to fault mine at all and the 'rainguard' feature is a bonus.

Thats a damn versatile Mag Range, do the trick just about anywhere

Nope

But the 30mm tube with side focus is very nice, has heaps of elevation, well over 100 moa & is only 60 odd grams heavier

Some good suggestions above will do the trick does comes down to budget as well from vx3's to March's are a reasonable price gap

Yes i know if I had a khales mill 6 or a S&B p2 I wouldn't be dragging it thru kiwi bush .you can with a loopy and still have quality glass

I drag my kahles all over the place - including through NZ bush. They are built to military standards of reliability so should be fine. And mine have been so far.
