Thread: Light weight rifle options

Hey team,

So i’m looking at getting a new rifle and am just looking for suggestions on what you guys/ gals think is good value for money. I’m wanting to go for something on the lighter side as I like to keep weight down. Will be chambered in 7mm08.
Looking for any suggestions or pros and cons of various models.

Kimber Montana - all the way without killing your Bank account

A 1950's Husky 1600 in 308, with a decent 4x scope, weighs in about 7lb.

Kimber hunter, T3 lite, rem model 7 then take to it with a mill.

Hardy hybrid is pretty light.

Sako A7 is just a tikka deluxe mate, not worth the extra $$

The tikka t3 is the way especially if you could convince @stug to make more of his stocks! I managed to find one and I am loving the carry weight.
Have owned kimbers before but like the range of after market parts for the tikkas

Just buy the tikka.260 off here and chop to 18" fit a DPT job done.

I do like the abundance of after market kit you can buy for the tikkas too, also quite a bit cheaper than kimbers

Unfortunately they are a bit pricey for my bank account haha

Definitely don't buy a Tikka. Why would you want an accurate rifle with a super smooth action for a reasonable price?

Kimber Montana. Lighter than a tikka. No plastic bits. Nicer action. No stupid mag to lose. Super stiff and light carbon Kevlar stock from the get go. Now I've had one everything else just feels uneccesarily bulky and awkward.
