    Light weight scope options

Im after a decent light weight scope for my new light weight rifle project, a medium/shortish barrelled 308 for general hunting from 20-500 yards

    A couple of options -

    Leupy Ultralight 3-9 x 33 CDS ( only VX 2 quality optics though )

    Leupy VX3 3.5-10 x 40 CDS or 2.5 -8 x 36 B&C

    Swaro Z3 3-9 x 36 or 3- 10 x 42

What other brands / models might be worth a look ?
Shoot it, root it & then BBQ it !!!

Weaver v9 3-9x38 is a tad lighter than the Leupy Ultralight 3-9x33 (from a quick google of weights), optics in the same class (should be better in low light with bigger objective) and a lot cheaper.

If you're thinking more about the next price range up you might be after something nicer, but I like mine.

I've had 2 ultralights and they are great. Optics are well good enough and click well. I just got one from the states for a mate from Opticszone and it was a bit expensive. 620 nzd landed. Not much better than getting one from here. That place in Carterton has them.

    I have both the VX3 2.5-8 and the Z3 3-10.
Z3 is a little big heavier but much better optics. I don't dial up shots very often so not sure on reliability in that respect.

vx3 2.5-8 are awesome little scopes

I ended up with the not so light but still bloody good 2-12vx6 without side focus and 40mm objective
the weight step up wasnt massive but it was worthwhile capabilities wise
same weight as the 3.5-10vx3 if I remember rightly

Swarovski will beat all of the above for light and image quality. Looked through one yesterday and was amazing. So much so a Z5 should be arriving for me today.

I was in the same position last year. There are virtually no scopes that are light weight and have a decent range of magnification. Ended up going with the 3.5-10x40cds even though it wasn't the lightest because its a little more versatile then the likes of a 2.5-8. I haven't actually worked out a drop chart for it but found after putting it on my rifle I only have 52 clicks left in the elevation turret, this is good because it means I won't be able to get lost when dialling, and is still plenty of adjustment for any range i will shoot.

Keep an eye out at nzhunter.com Digit is closing down that to focus on nzar15.com, so there's some special prices going on.
