    lightweight sambar rifle

I'm planning on getting a sambar rifle / international rifle after the trouble with the Bavarian in NZ, something synthetic and light would be ideal. my initial thought were a toss up between 7mm REM mag and 300wsm. But the 300wsm seems to clip it ballistically as well as using less powder (I use adi 2209) and obviously going up heavier weights although I reckon I'd just run 150tsx through it.
Thinking of a sako a7 with swaro z5 as I know I can get the z5 pretty cheap.
almost was tempted to get a t3 and spend the difference on putting a new trigger in. not sure if I can get a set trigger system for it though? I've dealt in both though and prefer the a7. Already bought the limbsaver recoil pad so I'm half way there ha
    thoughts?

the a7 mags are too flimsy in the wsm and magnum cals it will double feed and dump the mag if you are unlucky, beretta is replacing mags with upgraded feed lips but it is a token jesture.
    just sayin...

The T3 will not need a new trigger, they are insanely easy to reduce the pull weight and are as crisp as a crisp thing.

The rem mag or wsm pushing a 150g + all copper projectile will hammer Sambar. Actually most good projectiles in the right spot will lay Sambar on their side.

Lightweight Sambar Rifle = you just described a Tikka T3 in 30-06 (or 300WM if you enjoy pain)

No major trigger work required, slap on a scope you wont mind banging around and you have a pretty perfect Sambar hunting rifle

Spend the extra cash on a nice range toy?

    +1 what they said.

T3 triggers are about as good as production rifle triggers come, and are easily adjusted.

Any of the calibers mentioned so far pushing a TSX or GMX at reasonable speeds is going to anchor a Sambar.
