Its a tight fit, but thats what you get with the 156's in a 6.5/06AI
I will load this witht the 130 Berger hunting VLD's and keep the 156's for the 28" barrel version.
That pic is with me holding the mag hard up, if I let it sit naturally the bolt goes over the top of the round. Ill bring the rear down 3 mills and the front 1 mill and try again tomorrow

You might get away with boring some holes in the butt section. That would require making up a plug to cap it off though. Possibly would mess with the balance too, make it quite front heavy when all done.

Totally agree and maybe a bit around the action. Its going to grow a bit when wrapped. I guess keep going until it just feels like you went a touch to far and the wrap should bring it back right. Well in theory anyway.

You could drill holes and cap with small bit of dowel so the resin cant get in but the holes still present inside the butt. Id think you could easily drop 50grams plus by doing this.

Thanks for your thoughts, Its going to be front heavy anyways so if I bore holes in the butt looking to drop 35 grams and then a bit more in the barrel channel (Id rather cut the inside than the outside so I still have something to hold on to lol) I may achieve my 450g and Ill not notice the balance difference with 20 odd grams one way or the other.

Thanks for that video, I have watched this guy do some others in the past, this was more tech shape so gives me some confidence that the stock will be not too hard to cover

Its about right now. I need to sort my action screws and washers and tighten it up before I glue the plastic in place. That way it'll make sure I dont get a supprise later lol.
lockdown expox should be here from Bunnnings tomorrow I HOPE.
Anyways there is more lightening yet to be done so hope to get a gap between helping the kids with school work, a bit of office work myself and making dinner. Ven caserole be a quick option lol.

450G achieved!. Still a mild bit of sanding to do and still to get the holes cut for actions screws tomorrow. So we are safely under the 450g mark for the blank, be real interesting how much weight two coats of resin (3 if I have to... and one layer of carbon put on it. Ill give it a laquer spray before resin to stop it soaking in more than it nmeeds to.

Looking great, One tip I learned when making a kite surf board, is to fill the holes in the foam with a light weight filler mix before applying the glass and resin. That might work in this case to fill in and seal the the wood grain, so it wont soak in resin. Also to keep the glass/carbon layer thin I vacuum bagged the board, with an absorbent layer to soak up the excess resin, but that might not be practical here.

400g with holes cut for action screws... I had better stop there before I go too far. A super light weight rifle was not my goal here, if i really wanted that I would reprofile my barrel, which Im not going to do. Im looking at the stock as a project in its self and my goal was to get the blank to 450g. more than achieved that. waiting on bunnings to deliver epoxy now. they only sell small tubes on line so thatl get the washers for action bedded and the tikka bottom peice secured. Ill then be waiting on lockdown to end... ill also be wanting to get an ally trigger guard... or make one if I have to
