Nice one. I would get some laminating epoxy from these guys when you can. I wouldnt trust the bunnings stuff to not discolor.

If they wernt in Auckland I would. Ill try pultron once we switch levels
Adhesive technologies in Auckland make the West Systems epoxy and stock their other products. I find it cheaper to buy from them, even with freight was cheaper than buying locally.
These guys are worth a look too. I got some carbon-fiber and resin off them the other day. There in Hamilton too so they'll be able to ship again soon. Im trying to do something similar but with the 3d printed blank rather than wood.

You might need to ring them.
test bolts are in and it seems I went too far with the mag insert, only by half a mill or so. I need to pack it so the mag clicks in place. scope height is about right. Ill mount the vx6 on this later and look for ome lower rings and it will be perfect height for eye alignment.
Regards the weight of the stock at 400g... man thats light in comparrison to a 5 shot tikka mag loaded with my 156's that weighs a hair shy of 200g. half the stock blank weight. Ill chop up another tikka triggerguard for the trigger portion. lucky I had two spares lol.
Been slow on it today guys... school work and play with the kids and chores around home swallowed up the day so its late night only and the odd snatch of 5min here and there during the day.
Ill order resin from auckland (ResinArt.nz) tomorrow, they will ship during lockdown from the guys email tonight.
oh yes and pillar bedding tomorrow too.
I was wondering what its the "long term" implications on the wood...
Will it rot or become brittle when incapsulated in carbon?
just like any timber with a sealed finish. last for ever. this timber has high resistance to rot and fungals even unfinished. my grendel stock is bare. Ill finish it one day lol. been too busy hunting with it to take it off and finish it.
What a sweet project, nice work. Where did you source the timber blank from?
