    Like I say familiar....

300 rum and 208 amax will be more than good for 1200m on game further on metal...

    cheapest option and simplist too

But a 338 (greg) edge be just as simple to upgrade but it my unhumble opinion it kind of denoted the rifle to something beyond just a hunting rifle when you go that big a bore

with the hybrid 30cal 230 grain VLD .743 BC it makes 30 cal still an option... 338 will last longer (barrel life) .375 longer again..

If you are setup for reloading the 300 RUM its still a great Cal but I am changing my mind every week to what my RUM will be when I rebarrel it
Fishing ... Hunting its all good

my 300 RUM 26" barrel running 230 bergers at 2980fps is only just behind the 338 at 1000 yards the wind drift difference is 4 inches
thats against 300 berger going 2840fps. not much eh???

    I see your thinking
But a 300gr at around 3200 + or - 50fps easy epending if i get a 'fast' barrel i cant pass that up.
An its time for a change

Don't forget that the 30 cal barrel won't last any where near as long as the 338 one

And we won't even think about how long a 7mm one will last if it is ballistically close.......

Or a BIG 338 for that matter.........

At this stage it will be a big 338, also been able to do switch barrel to a big 7mm.
Been switch i can change when i like, an get new barrel to pop on also if i wear them out.
In all honesty im not a high volume shooter, i have been there done that an are a one guy man an do it right.
Its the first shot thats the winner so im going know this new beast, they have gone above an beyond so far
