    Long range hunting scope options

Wanting to replace my optics on my long range rifle with some better glass and low light performance.

Currently have a 6-24x50 vortex viper hst, has been a good scope but it suffers a little in low light.

    Budget of 2k

    Options so far are

    New meopta optika6 4.5-27x50

    Second hand march 3-24x50

Second hand vx6 4-24x52 (if I can find one in my price range)

Any other scopes I should look into?

Should be close to getting a nightforce for that money - i brought a S&B "longrange" which is dialable and has amazing low light capability

How far do you want to shoot ? On game or gongs? Personally I find a 3-18x44 about the optimal long range hunting. A 2nd hand VX6 would fit your budget & even if it’s a single turn turret that gets you out to 800-900 yds depending on pill & calibre. I think there was a 2nd hand Sig 3-18x44 on YradeMe recently? That would also be a great option. Delta Ti HD 4-20x50 is another if you want to stick with 50mm objective

It does abit of range work past 1000m aswell as hunting on the farm so needs to be in the x24 mag range. The vortex is fine on the range but lacks the glass quality in the feild

There's a Burris signature HD on here for $850

3-15 illuminated model. I don't know the seller but that would be a great buy on the cheaper end
Keep it simple- hand me a model 7 7mm08 and I'll be right

    What features/specs do you want?
The scopes listed are all quite different.

I'd go the March 3-24x50, as I prefer Mil and FFP and it's pretty lightweight.

The VX6 isn't a bad option but if you want FFP then it's not a very good option.

I don't get to hung up on ffp or sfp, I dial windage and elevation. A simple retical that's useable, xmas trees are a pain in the ass.

A scope that has good glass, tracks reliably and is a good upgrade over the vortex

If you can find a used March for you budget then I'd say that's the way to go.
Good history with reliable tracking, good glass, simple reticle in most of the 3-24 models, not too heavy, 30mm tube.
    Shearer and Trav-6mmrem like this.

From this list I would go Optika6.
