Long shot - Sako Forester AII - where are you now???

Heres a real long shot... my second centrefire rifle, .308 calibre, bought brand new from James Smiths Wellington (yes they sold rifles in their sports department!) in about 1984. Serial number 353356 ( I loved that rifle... even remember the serial number). It was pretty original when I traded it (on a 75 finnlite) at Hunting & fishing Lower Hutt (Alicetown) about 1998/99.
What ever happened to that rifle?
    Who owns it now?
    So:
    Sako AII in .308,
    Serial# 353356,
No open sights on the rifle - grub screws (though they may have been with the rifle),
pachmayer recoil pad rather than the plastic one it came with.
recrowned, but bore in good nick,
Had a Redfield Partner 3 - 9 scope on it in original sako rings when I sold it
Sold by H&F lower Hutt Alicetown about 1998/99.
Was very tidy, re-blued from wear.

Shot a lot of deer with that rifle, red, whitetail, sika, tahr and chamois.

Would love to hear where that is now, will try and dig out some pics!!

Likewise what happened to my Anschutz 1574 that I should never have sold.
I can see a nostalgia thread starting here.

My old Forester, which I still have (will be placed in my coffin with me ) was purchased long before yours. A mate liked mine so much he bought one too. He got his from a company called Begg Wiseman who were basically a line of music shops throughout NZ so similarly odd as your James Smiths.

It will pop up on the new register shortly. Probably only accessible to bent cops and gang members though.

Remember Begg Wiseman well, bought a fancy U.S. made Helena Flatfish lure from them when I was a kid; cost 11 shillings in 1964 - nearly a week's paper run money. Also, a Slazenger lemonwood bow that cost 2 pound 10 shillings ($5)

I’ve definitely seen a few of my old rifles doing the rounds on TM, gun auctions etc
NZ’s a small place for sure. Might pay to put up a photo so people know exactly what model your talking about.
