    Looking to borrow a 1" scope lapping tool in the Hawkes Bay Area

    Happy to "pay" for its use with brown liquid of the brewed variety. PM me if you are able to assist.

    Just go to your nearest engineering workshop and buy a short length of 1" steel bar. You can drill and epoxy into the bar a cut down screw driver for a handle if you want to make it more comfortable to use. Some valve grinding paste and you're good to go. Shouldn't cost more $10-$15.

    Been using one I made over thirty years ago and it's still does the job.

    Ouch, a 1" x 8" round tool steel will cost around $130.

    Better to go with 10-Ring's advise.

    Or even a piece of silver steel from the same suggested source which dimensionally should be spot on.

    Yes, I think so, but as zimmer says, too expensive.
