Thread: Looking at a new Rifle but cant Decide!!! please help!!

Hey guys my names Ryan im new to this Forum,
just come back to real world after being in aussie for the last 4 years, and have always been keen on my hunting so time to get a new rifle!!
Currently i am looking at the Tika T3, remmington SPS and the Ruger m77 hawkeye in a 7mm-08
looking at around 1200-1500 in a stainless model.
From your guys experience whats best bang for buck...accuracy,maintenance price ranges etc give me all your knowledge so i can make the right choice first time round as this new rifle i will be keeping for a very long time

They're all good rifles and they'll all suit your needs.
I have the T3 in .270, its a great rifle and i love (though i wanted one from the get go so i'm bias)

The cons are some people don't like the plastic magazine, trigger guard and dense recoil pad.
The pros is its light weight and the fact that you are getting a Sako barrel with a 3 shot sub inch moa from factory guarantee

Why 7m-08? not 308?

Tikka T3 in calibre of choice, Optilock rings, Best quality scope you can afford & some time down the track Stug or Senator carbon stock.
Nothing wrong with the 7mm08....I've killed game out to 800yds with mine!

Have you considered a winchester model 70?

Just got one and know they work so its the only gun I'd suggest

I reckon if you are spending $1k plus on a rifle the chance of it being a shitter is very very small, buy which one grabs your fancy!

T3. Try hunting and fishing. They have just had a sale that ended where they offered a t3 with optilock rings and a burris E1 3-9-40 rifle scope for 1499. great price for a good set up. They might still be willing to do the deal for you.

hey guys whats the big difference between a 7mm-08 and a 7mm rem magnum?? i know the 08 is a necked down 308 but is the 7mm just a magnum type of the 08??

Just google image the cases of each and it will give you a fair idea. A rem mag is quite a step up from a 7-08 in terms of velocity. It is also quite a step up in recoil and cost of ammo

This. Any of them will be fine, so will a Savage or Browning or Winchester or CZ or Howa or Marlin or whatever else I haven't thought of, handle a few and buy the one you like the fit and feel of.
