    Low power scope

    Hi guys,

I’m on the prowl for a low power scope, roughly 1.5-6, 2.5-8, sort of thing, ideally with a smallish objective. Other than leupold, what’s out there? Not a huge leupold fan - some of the vx2 line are ideal format wise, but worried I’ll be unhappy with the optics...

Any bright ideas? Am I just getting too fussy in my old age and in a low power the glass will be fine?

I'm considering selling my as new, unmarked Kahles KX 2-7x36 4A reticle. Only used a few times on my Anschutz .22LR but have replaced it with a Leupold VX 2-12 as I needed more magnification for target shooting even though the optics aren't as good as the Kahles.

Not sure I'm willing to part with it though as it's such a nice scope and I'd lose too much on it.

Even so I think you should try and find one as they'd make a brilliant bush to medium range deer hunting scope.

    I'm running a Hawke 1.5-6 on my .22lr.
Cheap but effective on that rifle.

I like the VX3 1.5-5. Very small. My mate has an old VXIII 2.5-8 and it is also very nice. Not much help being Leupold for you. If you want really nice glass in a low power optic, the Trijicon accupoints would be worth a look.

Although not really a low power scope, the VX6 2-12 is a fantastic close range scope, especially with the firedot reticle.
On 2x the FOV os massive and can shoot both eyes open real easy.

The VX6 1-6 or VX5 1-5 would be even better close up, but I struggle to see that you would find 2x too much on a hunting rifle.

Edit: you will not be disappointed by the optics!

I have a Nikon Monarch 2-8x32 BDC, and a Nikon P300 2-7x32 BDC - both are lovely scopes and well priced.

The vortex razor lh comes in a 1.8-8.
The aforementioned vx3 is a good scope too.
Any of the new loopy hd glass (vx5hs, vx6hd) will be good to go glass wise.

I also have a Nikon Monarch 2-8 X 32 and really rate it. The P series are pretty good too.

However, I will be moving to a VX3i 1.5-5 X 20 as project funds allow (carbon fibre stock first!)

A seriously good bugger off here has cured my woes! Just so happens he’s also nearly in the same neighbourhood! Thanks mate!

The kahles 2-7x36 4A is a great little scope. I have been on the lookout for one for quite some time now. I don't think they are being made anymore though.
My only real alternative is the Swarovski 3-9x36 which is another great little scope.

Feel free to PM me if you decide to sell it
