Find a rifle you like in the US, find an exporter willing to export it, apply for NZ import permit, apply for US export permit, ship it over. Garands are cheap in the US.

Maybe join your local antique arms association, or local service rifle association? Get in good with them, and someone will know of an M1 that might be for sale for the right price.

    Hey Spanners!

Can you elaborate more on the hand in thing?

M1 being E cat, fuzz want another E handed in when getting it put on license

Don't need to get into the debate of whether its right or wrong but if you want the piece of paper to get one, that's the current hoop that needs to be jumped through.

Is that only for importing a firearm?
If so, I don't have an e cat rifle so can I still import?

You no longer need a hand in if the intended use is for target shooting. You would probably need to prove that by being an active member in a suitable club though.

You could try Canada, there are a few Garands floating around there, doubtful anyone would want to sell though... The South Koreans have shit loads of them, but Bammy won't let them export. I'd take two.

Have any of you imported from the states in the last 4-5 months? If so who is a good exporter?
