    Mannlicher 1895 info

At a mates place for the weekend and the jammy bugger has scored a very tidy mannlicher 1895 straight pull in 8x56R and a couple of other nice Black powder bang sticks. Back to the Mannlicher
He pulled it to bits this arvo for a squiz.
Grease everywhere under the wood, congealed dark grease in the chamber.
Pull through the barrel came out super clean except for remnants of grease.
Almost of the opinion it has barely been shot since the refurb to 8x56R back in the day.
    Budapest rifle.
Anyone got any enbloc clips about or know of some? Only needs one or 2.
A quick comparison of a 303 clip showed promise but the 2 little nubs on each side would need to come off.
Hasn't got any ammo either so any info on that or at least cases would be nice.
    Cheers

Can you get dies? You can make cases from 7.62x54R russian

PPU still make ammo for it, but I expect you will have to order some in.

Bore size .329 so mould required.Got dies and ammo from Gunworks. Original cases can be fitted with shotgun primers.
    Fun guns to shoot.

What about swaging down a bullet to .330 from .338 or something?

Lee make an inexpensive 2 die set for the 8x56R.
The last time I owned one, I bought PPU Ammo from GC and reloaded. Ammo Direct also may be able to import some.
I got some .330 bullets for Bertram (they make them for the .318 Westley Richards) Which are obviously tricky to get but there may be a Bertram importer who can get some.
The Clips are very specific to the 8x56R, they are Angular in shape and you’ll have great difficult modifying LE chargers to work.

Awesome gents. Yeah he is already a Google expert so aware of swaging. Quite happy to do casting too.
Looks like the clip will be the hold up.

Send me a PM with an address and I'll send some clips.

If your mate doesn't mind paying $5 a case, Bertram are a better way to go than Grafs/PPU which seem to be a smidge under sized at the case head.

Having said that - when it comes to reloading 8x56R, you take what you can get!

Have dies and mould here and original military cases can be adapted to shotgun primers easily.

Cheers Ted but he is in Kumara if you were offering a loan. Bit tricky to wack some out and have them back that arvo
He has a bunch of lead and quite prepared to have a go at casting.
Cases will be the next thing but the 762x54r cases would be most likely until he gets proper stuff

There are heaps of those Rifles here. I think the krauts used them for second line troops, the ammo is scarce but does pop up now and again.
