    manurfacture date of tikka

    does anyone know if you can figure out the manufacture date on a t3 by the serial no cheers

    No I read there was a batch of them that were blowing up I think made around 2004 could be internet bullshit tho

    IIRC it was a Sako blow up but Tikka was also recalled. Somewhere on the net the serial numbers were posted. A mate of mine had a Tikka affected but when he went into the shop he purchased it from (in Onehunga) he got the brush off. Went to Sportways and they ended up taking his Tikka back and doing a deal on a Sako.

    Had a quick look for the serial numbers range but couldn't find anything. I am sure the range was posted by a NZer to provide some transparency as the agents here (BNZ) appeared to play the whole thing close to their chests. Around the same time some Spingfield M1A1s and MB barrels blew as well IIRC. Bad steel.

    Probably made from melted down Chinese un-certified building mesh.

    It was actually Italian steel, as bereta had taken over and was supplying the steel to all its divisions. Border barrel was getting the same steel from the same supplier and had to send back a few tonnes due to improper heat treatment and hardness.
