    Marlin 795 feeding problems

My mate bought a new Marlin 795 a few months ago and right from day one it wouldn't feed to well. It jams every 4 rounds or so, sometimes the bolt doesn't quite close enough, sometimes it catches the fresh round halfway along its case and bends it in the chamber sometimes it just fails to pick a round up. We have tried different magazines in it from my 795 and it would have had over 500 rounds through it now and has been cleaned etc on a few occasions. I'm guessing the magazine well is out of place but haven't had a decent look since I come up with this theory. Anyone else had the same kind of problems? My 795 runs flawlessly.
