    Get the marlin. I had a play with a 770 and hated it, finish was the worst of any of the budget rifles i handled and the accuracy reports arnt that flash for it either.
    Mate has the XS7 in 7mm08, shoots MOA with handloads, my only gripe with it was a blind mag, hardly a deal killer but I prefer hinged Floorplate.

    The Ruger americans can be had for $750 in stainless, and they feel like a decent rig, worth a look too.
