Mauser action rings and bases

Seeing the long awaited Parker Hale 270 project (yes I know but at least it isn't a 6.5 creedmore lol) has progressed further, (take off barrel I got yonks ago from @Tentman just been fitted), I was wondering what sort of scope mounts are around. Its the old mauser style action with the thumb cut on the side. I may have the old weaver bases that came off it years ago but wouldnt gaurantee it
I can get a set of redfield twist in rings and bases for a round hundy but open to options.
Recommendations?
Almost could go in the buy/sell section as a wtb
Will still have to inlet the stock to suit the new barrel so no great rush

Being a Parker Hale i assume the holes are lined up and the spacing between front and rear reciever is std to allow use of a one piece base. However two piece bases like those from Warne give you a bit more room to top load your magazine and warne rings look good on mausers. The bases give it that old square bridge look. With money to burn look at rectnagle and EAW offerings. Quick turn tip offs.

Only heathens use 1911 style bases and rings on a mauser....

OK - I'm not a heathen but you can call me a philistine (yes thats a real word to me, describes those who put mint sauce on anything other than lamb or mutton) cause I happily use weaver slotted bases (I assume this is what you mean by 1911 bases - not a term I've heard) on any Mauser other than a true Oberndorf sporter - they deserve something special and even double dovetails don't look right on them to me, for them Talley's are the "minimum standard"!

Heathen or Philistine, indifferent to major religion or culture, same same to me. More seriously though, while you can use a one piece rail, unless you need to because of dodgy holes, two piece bases such as warne, weaver or talley to me are a nicer option than a weaver rail, or 1911 (picatinny) rail due to access to the magazine.

The EAW quick detachable setup is nice but fairly dear and you mostly dont want to take your scope on and off.

Has the rear receiver bridge been machined down to remove the "hump" for stripper clips?

I think so. Only the thumb slot left. What ever parker Hale dis to them to sporterise them.

Fit a set of Weaver steel bases and then you have plenty of options for rings. Amanda at Gunworks should have some in stock.

And if you want genuine PH bases, I may have some here. But then your limited to PH/BSA type rings

If the hump behind the charger groove has been ground off, leupold and Weaver bases will fit.

I think you might mean 1913 Picatinny ?

It depends more on what you want to do with the rifle (Gee but a .270 ?) & what scope or sight you want to mount, lots of stuff about now days

@Scout yeah-270. It will fill out the gaps between 303, 243 and 416 lol.
not 100% on the scope yet. I am dismally short of scopes and slowly accumulating cheap decent ones so they will all at least be a shooter.
The most likely will be an old Burris signature 2-10 AO that is on one of the BSA model E's for testing unless another better one turns up. Although that would be a good one for the 243 and take the loopy M8-4x off for one of the 303's
A classic loopy 3-9 or maybe a 2-7 wouldn't be a bad go. If i was going completely old school, a mint pecar or kahles might be a shot but suspect some of the newer cheaper scopes might just be a better optically.
Looked through a Nikon on one of @dannyb cannons and that was very good to look through and not too dear to save up for.

Not to high-jack, but if anyone has claw mounts with rings or something similar to a claw mount (Conetrol or Buehler, are there more?) for a large-ring M98 receiver that will be awesome. I have a sportered Czech M98 action that used to have parker-hale mounts that just looked superbly wrong on it. Thanks.
