    Much has been written as to the low calibre (no pun intended) of the modern journalist, they are under huge pressure to pump out as much clickbait as possible so even if they were inclined to check the facts they just don't get the time.

    Also many young journalists are the leftovers of the "journalism" classes, the good ones end up in PR firms as it's better paid and way more fun. Journalism is generally very poorly paid so the good ones who don't care about the money will be there to inflict upon the masses their own personal agenda(s) which they will be very passionate and one sided about. Add in the fact most of their lecturers would have been left leaning and it's not hard to see how we end up with an ill informed anti gun mainstream media.
