You could use 5.8ish. 1 "moa" hash should be 0.5MIL. Calibrate it by adjusting mag on the range til the reticle hashes match a measure downrange. Make a witness mark so you can hunt with it at that exact magnification
To be fair though I prefer my method which I use very effectively and quickly - the DIY BDC turret

Haha, nice. I'm not that keen on non locking exposed turrets, another thing to move accidentally (or not reset) and confuse the elderly!
Where SFP with a BDC reticle can come in handy is with different loads, I have it at 100m zero for full loads and for subs at 50m zero it's the 400yd line at 6x. At lot easier than having to dial.
Any system requires intentional familiarization for proficiency
