    Mini 14 based 300 Blackout

    Hello Guys

Has anyone built a Blackout on a Mini 14 (I know there are supposed to be factory versions but they must be like rocking horse shit). If a bloke wasn't fond of AR's it might be a good way to go, especially with an adjustable gas block. I'd never be shooting a Blackout past 200 metres so 1.5-2.5 MOA would be plenty accurate enough for Goats and Fallow.

    Thoughts??

Mini 30 in 7.62*39. I can't imagine why you would want blk on that platform when it already comes in Russian.

Save yourself the coin and buy a Mini-30 and shoot 7.62x39. I do all my goat and deer shooting at the moment with the 7.62x39, but in an AR platform.
I have an e-cat wood stainless Mini-30 in the safe that could be purchased for the right money. Threaded for a suppressor and comes with rings and mags.

Had both mini 14 and 30, great close range bush hunting rifle but accuracy wasn’t flash. Years ago before the 300aac blackout was around there was the odd custom Ruger mini 14 rebarreled to a 300 whisper with sub MOA accuracy with a adjustable gas block. The thing I like about the mini 14 and 30 is that they are the only stainless steel semi auto and a stainless 300 blackout would be nice if it had the adjustable gas block and was sub moa shooter.

Ruger do a 300 blackout but not in stainless, it's in their tactical line but not sure who would import them for you.

Im more than happy with 7.62x39mm to 150 yards for goats/fallow/reds/wallabies/pigs...wouldnt want big stag or boar out that far but if that was all the shot I had would take time and do it.... UNLESS you wanted to go super heavy projectile the 300 woulndt gain you stuff all and thats the fast twist barrel not cartridge...and being able to buy/source factory amunition without having to sell one of your testicles is great. hornady 50 pack is good stuff.... if you not completely sold on semiauto get a cheap n cheerful norinco boltaction and suppress it....they are a heck of a lot of gun for stuff all outlay and next to no recoil so anyone can fire them, mates, kids, sheilahs.
mate it with a m8 loopy in 3 or 4x and they just the ducks nuts for bush stalking, short, light n deadly.

Good idea Mickey Duck. I have a Norinco b/a 7.62x39 in my safe. Has a x6 power scope, spare mag and sling. Couple of pkts ammo there too. Have floated barrel and done a home bedding job with Devcon. I’m in the throes of shifting and happy to quit this as my sons want to shout me a brand new AR! They are good lads.

I wouldn't be surprised if a mini14/30 in 300 Blackout has difficulties cycling sub-sonics it's not just the gas block but the whole system that needs to be tuned. Therefore go for 7.62x39 as ammo is cheaper than 300 Blackout and a bit more powerful in a longer barrel.

300 Whisper/Blackout are supost to be interchangeable.

Seems that they can be had here as "factory" 300 AAC Blk, just takes a special order. It is from the tacti-cool" line so blued synthetic . . .

TAG 2000,Lucas Kerresi(spelling)used to make in 300 whisper.mini and cz 527.He sold his own mini 14 on tm a couple of years ago,I couldn't stay the distance $2300+
I have 527, 8 twist 16 inch Shilen barrel with a full overbarrel MAE suppressor, 240 grn matchking sub(980) are very accurate, and 110vmax 2300 + the vmax behave like a controled expansion at this mv.

Real guns start with the number 3 or bigger and make two holes, one in and one out

Thanks for the thoughts. It seems that the Mini 14 is one of those platforms eternally destined to disappoint in a couple of key aspects - I could live with 2 moa or thereabouts, fine for a 200 yard max rifle but even that's not a certainty. I thought it might be possible to get a decent trigger in one with tuning, but it seems that its always a bit "hit and miss" if you'll pardon the pun. I for one always end up cursing poor triggers.

I think its going to have to be a bolt gun after-all.

I had a 300 wisper mini 14 years ago, 99.9% the same as 300 blk. Cost much more to make than a 300blk ar15 would these days and was a pike of crap in comparasom. The only thing it did better was look ok to fudd farmers
