    Mini 30 versus SKS

In what way is a Mini 30 better than an SKS?

Less weight, in that it lightens your wallet by an additional $1k.

You can use the more common 308 projectiles. AR beats all though.

I have a stainless Mini-30 on E Cat available if you are interested. Can easily be deregistered to A Cat if required.

Try 308 projectiles in the 762x39 you should be suprised, just need to switch out the expander button for a 308 one to get neck tension.

Fit and finish is a lot better on the mini 30, reliability seems better also. My dad shoots for a living, a lot of it from a chopper, and his tool of choice is the mini 30, he just likes the x39 cartridge in general for the type of shooting he does but couldn't get the reliability out of a SKS that he does from the M30

Scope mountings a breeze on the mini, got it coz I was sick of rip off sks mounts from china. Ease of take downs about the same. SKS is made for midgets wearing winter woollies and has a shocking LOP.Both have odd feeling triggers. The mini will shoot better if you use the right ammo, mine likes PPU but everything else is all over the place. I'd get an SKS first for cheap fun shooting and playing improvements. If your wanting something for a bit more precision go for the mini or get a bolt gun in that calibre. If i had to choose I'd go for the mini, I use that way more than the SKS now.

Initally they produced the mini 30 with a .308 bore. I thought this was all of them but the great google in the sky says that they changed back to .310 bore.

I have one of both, the SKS stays in the cupboad!!! One thing the Ruger fails on is firing reliability on ex military ammo or the cheaper non U.S made stuff. The primers on the military ammo are harder than the U.S sporting ammo and the Ruger firing pin is tiny compared to the AK47 and SKS firing pins.
