Thread: Minimum shoulder for a suppressor?

Without going back over that part of the debate can I ask what everyone feels is a good minimum shoulder.

I've just been looking at suppressing a .308 and at the point I intend to shorten it to the barrel measures 16.5mm. I'm thinking a 14 x 1 thread will give me heaps and am wondering whether to go larger (just in case opening up does occur). I'm guessing the 14 is the outside diameter, by that reckoning then a 15 x 1 would give .75mm(.030") of shoulder? Is that enough or should I just stick to the .050 shoulder that 14 x 1 would give?

So aside from answering my question what do people consider the minimum shoulder that one needs?

Still can't get my head around that whole threaded muzzle thing....I understand the idea completely but can't see how it transistions to practicle every day occurances....

I just took my 23.5" baby Edge up the range & shot 14, 7 & 8.5 mm 3 shot groups, 3 different loads doing initial development, going between 2720 & 2795 fps.

It is all wrong..... thin barrel & 9/6 by 18 thread, that was there for a suppressor in it previous life....

Not too bad for a rifle that with a big VXIII weighs in at 4.015 Kgs.

Just as well it has a great brake

You need a decent size shoulder to pull the suppressor up on.
