    Minus spotting scopes

So the old's have purchased their retirement home looking over the sea and want to have something to have a gander with. Just for seeing if boats are catching, what the orcas are doing, looking through neighbors windows. You know that sort of thing haha. So doesn't have to be best optics for first and last light. Just something with a good zoom and a nice clear picture.
Saw the konus and thought it might suit ok.
Any thoughts or other options. At a guess I would say under a grand would be absolute top dollar more like 500 to 800
    Cheers

I have a leupold Vatana 15-45×80 I picked up with tripod for $400 and at that price it is exceptionally great value for money. They also come in 20-60×80 if you need more zoom.
The cellphone mount is great for these as well I have taken a few vids of animals from 500-1200 yards.
In short kedpman eye on trademe good deals do come up.
My mate has a cheap Chinese one and it's absolutely junk even at 200 yards.

It's not as sharp as my kids Swaro gear but with my eyes fading like they are, its good enough. It would be ideal for looking out to see from the house. Especially if whoever is using it isn't familiar with really good optics. Magnification makes more of a difference than sharpness with worn out eyes(to a point).
Yea cheers for that. That's all they are after really. To be honest I could probably good dad a toilet roll to look through and he wouldn't know the difference. Plus the konus comes with a stand cover and phone adaptor which is bloody handy

Konus is ok if you don't crank it up to full magnification.
I put an adapter on to balance on tripod better.
But for what you want would be fine.

So have scrapped the konus idea for the moment.
Now looking at the Bushnell prime or the vortex diamond back. Have had a look through the prime on a hot mirage day which didn't hell but seemed good enough for what the old boy will want. Any thoughts on these two? Not sure if I'll get a chance to look through the vortex
