I have just replaced mine for the same reason.... it is not worth getting them cleaned and re gassed. (depending on the scope value)
Mind you my old one took a beating on a rock with my full body weight on top and still lasted another year.
I have been told the best way to test the air tightness this is to freeze the scope and when it comes out you will know pretty much straight away if there is moisture in there cause it is frozen on the inside of the glass.
